Quickstart

Run your first spend decision in the sandbox.

The sandbox provides test certificates and mandates for integration work without real funds. This guide takes you from a new agent to a decision receipt.

1. Open the sandbox#

Go to dapp.covergate.app. Agents, certificates, and decisions there are test data, shared with everyone using the sandbox.

2. Pick a covered agent#

Open Agents and choose Invoice Runner. It already has an active test certificate and a mandate with approved destinations. From the API, GET /api/v1/agents lists every agent and its id.

To use your own agent, create it with New Agent, then choose Get a test certificate on its Cover panel. The sandbox issuer signs a 90-day certificate for it. Demo agents keep their state, so they cannot get one.

3. Dry-run a transaction#

Open Gateway, choose the agent, and turn on dry run. You get the full decision without executing anything.

You can do the same from the API:

bash
curl -X POST https://dapp.covergate.app/api/v1/gateway \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "agentId": "<agent id>",
    "action": "transfer",
    "asset": "USDC",
    "amount": 100,
    "destination": "0xVendor",
    "dryRun": true
  }'

4. Read the decision#

outcome is approved, denied, or pending. reasons lists every failed check as a machine-readable code, so an agent can correct its action or stop. See Denial reasons.

Change the destination to an address that is not approved and run it again. Cover still passes, and the mandate denies it with DESTINATION_BLOCKED.

5. See what no cover looks like#

Run the same request for Uncovered Agent. It is denied with CERT_MISSING. No active cover means no transaction. An agent you create yourself starts the same way, until it gets a test certificate.

6. Verify the receipt#

Open Receipts and paste the receipt, without its hash field. The verifier checks it against its hashes without an account. Live receipts are also signed, so you can check them with no call to CoverGate. See Decision receipts.
